Contemporary Interior Design For A 1980s Home
Interior Designer Notes On This Chelmsford, MA Design Project
The design direction for this sprawling brick ranch called for updating the 1980's interior to a bright, contemporary home for a young family. This project called for a complete property transformation with new paint, furniture, draperies, lighting, and accessories. The only pre-existing furniture used was the leather sofa.
The clients requested an interior design direction for this brick suburban home in Chelmsford, MA, that was bright, airy, livable, and modern.
The home has hardwood floors throughout. The family room contains a built-in cabinet that was formerly a pickled finish. It was painted white to brighten the living space.
The wall color in the family room is Benjamin Moore Windham Cream. Custom lighting is from Visual Concepts.
The bedroom furniture is from Hooker Furniture's Estate Line, and the draperies are custom.
The paint in this foyer is Benjamin Moore's Historical Putnam Ivory. The light is seeded glass from Visual Concepts.
The bedroom contains a sculpted carpet, a tropical ceiling fan, and mercury glass lamps.
Mirrors, lamps, and accessories are from the Uttermost Collection.
This children's playroom was transformed from an in-law apartment. It has an art area and a full-view mirror.
The sitting room has an Akbar hand knotted oriental wool rug and custom-designed furniture from Fairfield Chair.
The dining room set is from Hooker Furniture. The table has an inlaid star and the china cabinet has seeded glass.
The office has a cherry desk, custom draperies, and a hand-knotted area rug in brown, terracotta, and blue.
