Unique Finds From High Point HPXD For The Clementine House Veranda

I was excited to travel to High Point for HPXD’s participating showrooms offering Winter Blast sample sale items. This was exciting because High Point market is usually only open to the trade during their April spring market and October fall market. HPXD, where design never goes dark, was the perfect opportunity to take a short shopping trip to see what I could find on the showroom sample sale trail for the new entertainment veranda at The Clementine House.

I Found A Treasure Trove of Sample Sales at High Point

One of the highlights of my trip was the array of sample sales, offering one-of-a-kind pieces at incredible prices. Here are some of the showrooms that I scored some pieces:

Cohab Space

A hub for creative and eclectic design, Cohab Space is full of makers from artists, handmade furniture and accessories, unique lighting and fun fashion. Just walking through the space inspired me to return. Looking up I spotted the perfect ceiling pendant for the entry into the new veranda space. A beveled glass Moroccan-style pendant light. The perfect scale for the high ceilings was immediately added to the list of take-home items.

Red Egg

Red Egg’s collection of Asian-inspired furniture, with its handcrafted details and bold colors, caught my eye. Their tortoise and bamboo counter stools were the perfect balance of classic and contemporary, making them a standout choice for the space. The color theme in the space will be forest green, shades of purple and dramatic black.  Having previously selected fabric to use in the space, was a nostalgic dimensional forest green velvet with a raised animal print design and full of texture. It is perfect for reupholstering the two-seat tortoise bamboo bench.  This fabric has a 100,000 double rub abrasion wear test rating and is perfect for guests’ comfort and wearability.

Golden Oldies

One of my favorites, and I always return to architectural salvage spots, is Golden Oldies. As a lover of antiques, vintage finds, and architectural salvage, Golden Oldies is a treasure trove of unique pieces. With their curated collection of historic and repurposed pieces, I’m never disappointed when visiting and always find something to add to the shipping list.

I spotted three unique Hungarian pottery pendant lights as I walked up the stairway to the second floor. Intrigued by their unique design, I instantly thought instead of recessed lights in the soffit wall of the stone fireplace sitting area, these creative gems would add a unique charm and conversation. I still needed one more to complete the focal wall.  Carla was so kind to check the annex warehouse before shipping to see what else was available. Lucky for me, there were three more, and I selected one out of the three for shipping back to New Hampshire. So excited for these to arrive!

Sherrill Showroom

Sherrill’s showroom always impresses with its classic craftsmanship and timeless designs. As this was my first showroom to visit off the plane, I hesitated to pull the trigger until I finished exploring other showrooms. I was looking for two upholstered sofas and a few accent chairs; upon returning, the two animal print accent chairs were found, and the green velvet sofa was sold. I should know better by now than to procrastinate and should have listened to my friend Maddie Landers to buy before the sample sale opened to the public!

Cisco Home

I ventured over to Cisco Home to see what was on their sample sale floor. Many pillows and sustainable and artisan-crafted furniture were available, along with a selection of beautifully made seating and tables. Their organic materials and soft upholstery were intriguing, and it was a fun stop on the sample sale road.

Circa Loft

Circa Loft specializes in reclaimed and industrial-style furnishings. I’m always fascinated by their expansive offerings of reclaimed tables, textures, and patina of their pieces as I was searching for an extra layer of charm to my envisioned veranda setting. I will be back during the High Point spring market to see what new pieces might be available to ship.

Key Finds for the Veranda

Throughout my shopping excursion, I found some unique pieces that will suit the relaxing vibe in the new entertainment veranda:

  • Tortoise and bamboo counter stools – A striking addition to the bar area, offering both style and comfort.

  • A seating bench – Ideal for additional seating, blending seamlessly with the relaxed yet stylish aesthetic.

  • A green side table– A charming accent piece that will add a pop of color and function.

  • Tortoise nesting tables – Perfect for layering and flexible entertaining options.

  • Moroccan beveled glass ceiling pendant light

  • Set of 3 plus 1 unique Hungarian pottery pendant lights

Getting My Purchases Home

Shipping is always a question. However, Carla at Golden Oldies came through for me again. She referred me to a shipper that ships up and down the East Coast, and W Design Services did not disappoint. They coordinate all of the pieces and gather them up, package, and ship them all together.

Shopping at HPXD for the Clementine House veranda was an inspiring experience, reaffirming why High Point remains a top destination for design professionals. I can’t wait to see these carefully chosen pieces come together in the space, creating an inviting and beautiful environment for guests to enjoy.  Now, continuing to source upholstered pieces is the challenge. I’ll be hitting some vintage and antique shops this weekend to see what other finds will come my way.

We are excited to share the experience of warmth and charm of Clementine's new veranda. Stay tuned for more updates as we close in on the final details. Follow The Clementine House on Instagram for more insight into our vision.
